I’ve been seeing many sensory bottles show up on my Pinterest feed lately. Valentines Day is just around the corner so in lieu of all the adorable decorations currently out there, here is a Valentines Day themed sensory bottle.
Here is what you will need:
- Bottle (Found at Dollar Tree)
- Clear Hair Gel (Found at Dollar Tree)
- Glitter (Found at Walmart)
- Plastic Hearts (Found at Dollar Tree)
- Diamond Shaped Crystals (Found at Dollarama)
Start off with an empty bottle. I think the bottle can make or break this whole project. I have tried out a few and have given my suggestions on this post. Below is a photo of how much hair gel I put in, don’t do that. It was waaaay too much! I’ll show you a photo later, but that amount made everything just about freeze in one spot. So perhaps try about half of what is shown. If you are wondering by the way why I am using hair gel instead of clear glue, my answer to you is… I can’t find clear glue anywhere in my small town. Seriously! So one day I spotted this clear extra hold hair gel at the Dollar Tree and I had a lightbulb moment. A little goes a long way and I only paid $1.25 for the whole bottle!
Once you have your hair gel in there, go ahead and add in some diamond shaped crystals and plastic hearts.
Also add in some glitter. I chose some red and white glitter and a few shakes of these adorable glitter hearts.
Now fill up the bottle the rest of the way with tap water, screw on the top and give it a good shake.
Okay, so here is what the bottle first looked like because I added too much hair gel.. Everything is just frozen in place. I ended up going to the sink and dumping a lot of the contents out and than re-filling it with tap water. Again, I recommend using probably half of the amount of hair gel that is shown in the photo.
After I fixed my amounts, the bottle was so so nice. The contents float down gently, it’s quite addicting to watch =)
UPDATE: I think the hearts must have dyed the water. Our Valentine’s Day Sensory Bottle is now a pretty pink color. I like the change! =)
