A while back I was nominated for the Liesbter Award by Megan from The Playful Genius. Megan reached out to me on Instagram when we were both starting out. Megan, thank you so much for reaching out to me and for sharing my blog with your followers to help get my new blog noticed. I hope my followers will visit Megan’s blog ( The Playful Genius) & her Instagram account (@theplayfulgenius) where she shares fun, colorful play-based activities for kids.
Part of accepting the Liebster award was to answer a few questions that Megan prepared for me, so if you want to get to know me a little better, you can read those questions below, but FIRST, to pay it forward I also get to direct your attention to five people that I think you should check out so without further ado, here they are =).
Tip Tuesday! Have a child who says “I can do it myself!” but still needs some help? Here’s a fun way to use stickers to encourage kids’ independence. Just cut a big sticker in half and place the halves inside their shoes. 👟 Left half goes inside the left shoe and right half goes inside the right shoe. Now they can easily see which shoe goes on which foot. 👏💖
Beth! Beth @rainbowmamab creates some seriously beautiful rainbow plates for her kiddos. Lots of great food-spiration.
Ronnie! What I appreciate most from Ronnie’s Instagram account (ronraynj) are Homeschool Wisdom posts, she’s been at it for 20 years so I think we all can learn a thing or two from her =).
Now, onto my Q&A =):
What are your blogging goals?
I have such high hopes for my little blog. I would say one of my biggest blogging goals is for my blog to generate enough income that I could do this full time and earn a living while being at home with my kids.
How has becoming a mother changed you?
Oh gosh, I think becoming a mother has changed me in every single way. I used to be more shy and uncomfortable around people, now I feel more confident and outgoing. I used to care a lot about what people think and try to people please, but now I recognize that everyone has an opinion and a way of doing things so I’ve learned not to let disapproval bother me as much as it used to. I do think there is wisdom in listening and learning from others, but I’m talking more like in the context of motherhood where a person may have an opinion on how you feed your baby, or if you let your baby have a pacifier.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I am really out of touch and unfamiliar with the world of travel. I know this is totally open and you could pick anywhere but I think the place I want to go most is British Columbia. It’s close enough to where we live that the travel time for the kids would be alright and it’s warm and beautiful =).
What super power would you choose to have?
Haha, I honestly have no idea.
What’s your idea of a perfect date night?
My favorite dates are when we order in and watch a movie =).
What is your favorite blog post you have written to date?
I think the series that I did where I posted a look inside our Pre-K Homeschool curriculum for 1 week. A more specific post would be the one I posted for Wednesday (click to read post). It was my favorite because of the memories. It was Miss V’s favorite activity that week and it was so nice to capture her art work and know I will be able to look back in years to come.
What is your favorite thing to do with your children?
My absolute favorite thing is to take them in the summer to the splash park close by our house. I pack a blanket and a picnic lunch and the girls just have a blast playing in the water and then we enjoy a picnic together.
What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
It’s hard to narrow down the BEST, but I’ll say for most recently this article would be the best advice. If you are a blogger, I highly recommend you give it a read. The Ultimate Guide To Turning Your Blog Into A Business
What is your guilty pleasure?
TIM HORTONS ICED CAPPS! My oh my.. I’m not a fan of regular coffee so whenever I’m having a super sleepy day I would grab an iced capp because all of the sugar drowns out the coffee taste =). I know all the sugar is not good for me, I seriously gain weight like crazy when I drink those too often and then there’s the crash that comes as well after so yeah .. GUILTY pleasure. Totally had one today.
What do you hope your children remember most about their childhood?
I hope it’s filled with positive memories! I tend to focus only what I did wrong during the day (I spent too much time cleaning and not enough with the kids, I didn’t get down on the floor and play with them when they asked, I was overtired and lacked patience that day) so I hope that they don’t remember things like I do but instead remember the good times, the positive things.
If you could have 24 hours to yourself, what would you do?
I would probably catch up on everything I had time to! Computer work, house work, errands, sleep. Or it could go the other way I guess where I just enjoy a long bath and go back to bed just because I can haha, and then probably watch something on Netflix =).
