A water-play game with pretty colors and a fun challenge. The objective is to catch the fish and place them in the bucket before they melt. I tried this game out on my 4.5 year old and my 1.5 year old. They both thoroughly enjoyed it but because my oldest mastered it so quickly, I think I would suggest this game for toddlers.
- Fish Ice Cube Tray. Here is the one we have:
- Food Coloring
- A Bin or Bucket
- A Sand Pail
- A Fishing Net (we got ours from the pet section at Walmart)
Fill your ice cube tray with water and put one drop of food coloring in each fish. Carefully mix it in the tray using a toothpick or the end of a baby spoon.
Place your ice cube tray in the freezer until the fish are frozen.
Repeat until you have the number of fish you desire. I made 3 trays in total to split between my two daughters.
Next you will fill up a bin with water. Put the fishing net in the sand pail and place it beside the bin of water. Explain to your kiddos that the idea is to catch all of the fish and put them in the bucket before they melt.
My oldest caught her fish pretty quickly, so we dumped them back in the water for another round.
Here is my 1.5 year old giving it a try. Our water changed color pretty quickly =).
That is it! A fun little game for spring/summer. Enjoy!
