This is a fun activity for preschool and kindergarten age groups. This fun activity will help your child learn their letters and build/read small words. I had originally planned to put the letters on top of flash cards but I saw a photo on Instagram from @finding_myself_young where her daughter was placing her wooden letters on top of her book and I rememebered these Eric Carle books we had and knew they would be perfect. Thank you Toni for the inspiration, check out her website!
We used The World of Eric Carle “My First Smart Pad Library”. On it’s own it is excellent since it comes with a smart pad for learning letters. For this activity we set the smartpad aside and used letter tiles instead.
The selection of books were perfect as some had single letters only and other books had several letters to make words. It’s great to have options for different difficulty levels.
It was fun to listed to her announced what letter she was looking for and then watch her seek through the pile to find what she was looking for.
I hope you were inspired, happy learning!
