I have avoided a lot of fun sensory play ideas for quiet time (until now) because I knew that it would result in big clean up afterwards. Every child is going to be different and play different, but mine really likes to just get right in there and explore and be imaginative. So how do I contain the quiet time mess?
Well the answer is, I lay out a picnic blanket. Ours is made of durable nylon that makes for easy clean up. The one we have was given to us and I wasn’t able to find the brand or name of it unfortunately. If we hadn’t been given this one, I have had my eye on the Monkey Mat ever since I saw it at a trade show a year or two ago. I like that it is portable. It folds up into so small that it fits in a little satchel that you can just put on your stroller and go. Great for picnic lunches in the park!
I hope my simple solution works for you and your child so that you can bring in a variety of fun and messy quiet time bins =).
